Welcome to Mesa Verde
Mesa Verde is a national park in Colorado, USA. It has more than 600 old houses built inside big cliffs. Native Americans lived here from about 600 to 1300 AD. This is the biggest place in America that protects old buildings like this.
A Short History
People first came here more than 12,000 years ago. Around the year 1200 they started building houses high up in the rocks. They lived here for hundreds of years, then left around 1300 because there was no rain for many years.
